So did some experimenting with the background here, by which I mean I did it on the next page and then reincorporated some of it (though to not as heavy an extent) into this page when shading it. Think the door came out pretty ugly, might reupload the page later to tweak that part or something, but thoughts on the couch? Been playing around a lot the past few days with trying to make backgrounds look a little nicer.
Beyond that, not a gigantic amount to say beyond that as you'd expect from that last panel we'll be moving into the action soon. Not quite right away but next page'll really be slamming on the gas to that - think this scene could sustain a lot more than that but Adam didn't want to get bogged down for too long, especially since it's pretty likely the next two chapters will both be quite long.
Still, am happy with this one, and do like getting to really talk about the kids' past adventures to this point... and kind of keep up the running gag that they don't seem to have any actual memory of the Darkskull fight even happening.
Heheh... Yeah, Martin mentioned that this discussion with the parents honestly COULD be its own chapter. There's a LOT of stuff to cover and discuss, especially with all parents being on differing levels of agreement for the situation. But besides us having an action scene we wanted to do, I think a chapter of just the Blues kids talking to their parents would get REALLY boring, really fast, especially visually. That said, I've got a butt-ton of jokes and lines I wanted to use for this discussion that just never came up.
Hell, even in this page, meant to have Andy remark, "Wait, eight hours? How does THAT teach you something?" I've really missed the "They never go to class" running joke. .... Likewise it'd been a while since the fact that their strongest opponent was a tree hasn't been brought up for a bit either. Or the gag that they don't remember Dark Skull at all.
OH! Heck, crud, speaking of, there was a whole joke I meant to do with Dark Skull; after the Blues kids go public, he's able to prove that he's not crazy and gets released from the mental ward.... only to wind up being transferred to a normal prison. Would be a whole page of him going into jail and trying to look tough now that he's behind bars... Seeking out someone to beat up on his first day... Only to have it turn out that he's peeking a fight with Jake, who proceeds to clean his clock. Since there's a bit of a hard rule that we don't see Jake in the comic while he's in jail, just to make his absence feel harder, so the gag got cut. Not sure when I'd work it in anyway.
But yeah, bet you guys expected Lore to be the one making the big speech, right? I thought Andy felt more natural here given the circumstances, since he wound up dropping the bomb that they've done this before.
There also the issue that Jake is in Jail (short term facilities for details awaiting trial) But Darkskull would be Prison (long term facilities post trail) hence should be be in the same, place to meet
I mean he is partly to blame for this mass, I mean if did not go after MM I don't think MM would have wanted McCay powers. So again what's he doing?
And lastly you could all ways do that Darkskull vs Jake bit in a True Blue Filler.
