Heh... Yup, more of just Decay Conductor fighting the kids... While this entire fight scene was pretty fun to write and draw, it's hard to comment on; we know her powers and it's become clear what her particular talents are and what makes her awesome. Her ducking and doding the kids one at a time was pretty cool at least... That and Jenny deciding enough's enough and giving her a hard kick.

In general I'm trying to keep the various skills the kids learn consistent and use them naturally. Jenny's been practicing kickboxing, which we see here, and Lore's flash-step is back...

Oh, right, we find out what Decay Conductor wants. I've been meaning to bring that up for a while, honestly. Yeah, this is just a fling she's doing because she intends to break into Lost Oasis to kill Marvelous Man as payback. What I like about this is that the goal is potentially meaningless; it's entirely possible that even WITH her power she couldn't break into Lost Oasis, and even if she did, no guarantee she could take Marvelous Man in a rematch. What's dangerous isn't the long-term goal though; every minute she's not stopped, she's hurting everyone around her.

Speaking of Marvelous Man, turning dirt into tear gas is something she used in her match against him...

I think she likes using that technique. It's a really simple, direct way of taking out large crowds of people all at once. We also see that Decay Conductor carries a gas mask on her at all times in case she needs to bust this move out.

We did something a bit different with this page largely by accident - we've been experimenting lately with, among other things, making lines a dark grey instead of straight-on black. Adam went into drawing this page directly off of some experimenting with that so a good chunk of it was done in that style by mistake before we were entirely sure about integrating it, then we decided to just do the rest of the page that way while at it. Extended it to the dialogue and the panels which weren't part of when we did it (intentionally) on Monday's Wright as Rayne page - very last minute changes on that, I basically just got those at the end as I was exporting it.

Funny thing is this is probably going to be kind of a one-off look, in that we've been experimenting with a much more radical change in the art style that the next WaR page uses that'll probably also show up right away in Blues. No guarantees since we kind of need to see the colored finished product on WaR - I'm working on that right now - to decide to really commit to it but early in we're very hopeful so... Might bare getting a look at WaR on Friday if you don't read it just to have some idea of what we're doing and give some input.

I feel like the fire still looks okay but isn't quite as good in this page; I accidentally deleted the template for it when messing around with all the layering for this page, because I had to do a lot of copy and pasting due to all of the Daredevil stuff and special effects going on, and noticed too late to fix it so I basically just had to ad lib it. Something to watch out for going forward I suppose, that one.

I remember when the concept for this chapter was first coming together the idea was more Decay Conductor thinking Marvelous Man was being held in the city, but I think this works a lot better - gives her more room to be loose and fun with and really I'd have to imagine she's smart enough to know better than that. Just passing through makes more sense.
