Before discussing the page, everyone should know that we've made public the Discord server for the comics. All readers are invited to join us, and the link for it is available via a button at the top of the page. For Deviantart readers, here ya go...

But yeah.... IIII really hope this doesn't come off as anticlimactic with how the last page built up the option of needing to use lethal force. No, that wasn't going to turn out to be necessary. I still think the option is hanging over Grant (and now everyone else's) heads, but in this particular instance, they've figured out an Achilles Heel that would solve the problem for them.

This particular Achilles Heel has been planned since Decay Condcutor's first appearance. In her very first fight with Marvelous Man, she never uses her power on any living or organic material. In one really good blink-and-you-miss-it bit, she even has to dig her fingers under the grass in the baseball stadium and into the dirt so her powers will work.

Savvy comic fans will recognize that Firestorm has this exact same weakness and not gonna lie. Yeah. That's entirely where I got the idea. What I like is that Decay Conductor is presumably unpredictable enough and hard enough to survive an encounter with that nobody has put that together until just now. She's been able to keep her weakness a close secret. Unlike Firestorm, who suffers from the even BIGGER weakness of having an IQ in the negatives.

Speaking of smarts, Valerie continues to be the most scentifically-minded one of the group, putting together the picture at last. I just love how excited she looks at figuring it out in panel 4. ^^

One detail about this I want to point out, is that the kids only put this together because they had a quiet moment to think about the situation and the way Decay Conductor fights. If they'd stayed in the game, the frantic pace Decay Conductor runs at wouldn't've given them the chance to realize this. Further than that, it's possible Decay Conductor might've been captured earlier if Qrime Qure or Martina hadn't been interrupted. Not a sure thing, that, Decay Conductor is really cunning, but odds were decent.

Yeah, all I got. Very happy with this page. Everybody swing by the Discord!

It's funny, this is probably the most simple page in the chapter - been a very special-effects heavy one while this one doesn't even really have backgrounds - but I'm actually pretty happy with the art on this one. I think a lot of aspects of it pop, especially how Val looks like she's kind of geeking out in the fourth panel. It's a good look for her.

Which is kind of encouraging for my own weird reasons with this page? I often let myself get caught up in trying to fix really inconsequential bits of pixels going over and stuff, things that wouldn't be noticeable at all at the size we export the pages at (which makes it especially embarrassing when we manage to miss bigger stuff in spite of that) but this page I decided in the interest of saving time to try limiting myself to really only cleaning up things that were obvious when zoomed out in the interest of saving time. It worked pretty well for me so going to try and make a habit of that going forward.

Either way, admittedly I could indeed kind of see this page coming off as a bit of a copout coming off of the previous one, but I do think that the whole conversation about if the group has to kill is still one worth having - Decay Conductor may have an exploitable weakness but that doesn't necessarily mean every other threat going forward will, so whether or not the group is willing to kill is something that they do need to consider if they're going to be serious about this job going forward.

There was actually some restructuring of the remainder of the chapter after this page, but it'll be a bit before we can really get into the specifics of that. Makes it sort of a weird one to talk about given that. Either way, do hope everyone enjoys this one.

I figured her powers had limits, very interesting, wonder what's going to happen next.
