Funny, not sure how I have to say on this one offhand but I'm having to handle setting it up; Adam's having a pretty bad day that among other things includes his Internet being out, so I had to handle the shading on this one. Typically he handles that, though I also shaded yesterday's Wright as Rayne page funny enough.
So yeah, more discussion about the Night Terror. It's something that's periodically come up on and off for years in the comic, though this is of course the most attention that's been paid to the matter. Kind of an intrusion in the midst of all the cute, breezy fun that's been going on around it but eh, leave it to Lenore to interject just a bit of creepiness to the proceedings.
This disappearing children thing has been alluded to here and there throughout this arc, though it probably should've been given a bit more of a spotlight than it's really gotten. Top of my head, there's this page right at the start of the arc -
And there've been other times it's been alluded to, like in newspapers and stuff.
Contrary to Grant's line in the last panel next page will actually be cutting to something else. Really hoping everyone will enjoy that one seeing as it has a face we know fans like who hasn't shown up in a bit.
Nng. Okay, bad news all around. Eheh... Stiff upper lip, eh?
Heh.... Yeah, the Night Terror has been mentioned before in the comics, once even BY Lenore, and I honestly meant to allude to the urban legend aspect. It's been meant ot be implied that the Night Terror is just a sort of boogeyman meant to frighten children into behaving, especially in regard to going to bed on time. bluebloodheroes.thecomicseries.com/comics/254 bluebloodheroes.thecomicseries.com/comics/398
I honestly forgot Nicky had mentioned already having heard the story of the Night Terror before, since I thought he was the kid who hadn't heard of it yet. Turns out it was Andy, which was inconveinent since I thought it would've been nice to have the story explained directly to him along with the viewer. But I kinda do just like having the audience need to pick up on it, and this way of handling it was easier.
Plus I like the idea that Nicky was told about the Night Terror by Val. That's exactly the sort of thing my sisters would do to me.
But yeah, the sky has been colored this weird, ominous green ever since the day started. Not sure if anyone's noticed yet, but to Lenore it was a clear sign that something was going seriously wrong.
But yeah, the Night Terror panels were really fun to do, especially the contrast between the simpler, more cartoony monster and the elusive and hidden chameleon-like being in Lenore's panel. The description of exactly how it gets around is something I'm really proud of.
Also, Lenore's parents continue to be adorable. Hopefully we'll see more of them going forward.
And if you looked in panel 5 you can see the very familiar shape of that strange man we seen in the comic time to time like in What Can I Do For Blue?, Page 21 or Blue vs. Gold, Page 42 and I think the first real speaking role he had in the comic that wasn't filler was in Now You've Hit the Blue Time, Page 2. So whoever he is he definitely feels old and Powerful.
I really like the three scenes with Lenore's parents, I really liked that kiss on the head in the first scene that's so adorable. The Two scenes were Lenore's getting a hug. Even though her parents are scared they still Comfort their daughter.
All so I have a feeling that the night is that thing that escaped from that tomb in The Lost Spell of Baron Fontainebleu, Page 19.
I also have a nagging feeling that the Night Terror and the escaped nightmare from Fontainebleu's island are one and the same, wonder what's going to happen next.
You ALMOST got all of them. ^^
